Tributes paid after man (80s) sadly dies on Christmas morning in Co Cavan road crash




A traffic accident in County Cavan has claimed the life of a man in his late 80s, reports RTE.

Around 12.40am, a two-car collision occurred on the N55 at Clarebane.

The man’s body has been transferred to Cavan General Hospital for a post-mortem examination after he was declared dead at the scene.

The second automobile included four individuals who were sent to the hospital due to non-life-threatening injuries, reports RTE.

Local detours are in place, and the route where the collision occurred has been blocked.

Road users who may have dash cam or other camera video are invited to provide it to the gardaí as part of an information appeal, reports RTE.

It is requested that anyone with information call the Cavan Garda Station at 049-4368800.

Separately, gardaí have issued a request for information into a two-car accident in Cork that left a man in his 70s with critical injuries.

Yesterday evening at about 7.30 p.m., a collision occurred on the N28 at Carr’s Hill, reports RTE.

One of the vehicles’ drivers, a man, was sent to Cork University Hospital for medical attention.

The other vehicle’s driver, a woman in her 50s, was also sent to the hospital due to what were characterised as severe but non-life-threatening injuries.

Road users who may have dashcam footage and were on the N28 between 7.15 and 7.45 p.m. yesterday are being urged by the Gardaí to make it accessible to them, reports RTE.
