
Tributes have been paid to a 15-yr-old boy who sadly died after getting into difficulty in Laytown, Co Meath on Friday evening.
He travelled with friends from Blackrock, Dundalk to Laytown to enjoy the weather in Co Meath.
Kofi’s body was recovered after he was reported missing while swimming near Laytown Beach, Co Meath, Friday evening. A group of teenagers were  swimming in the River Nanny under the Laytown footbridge when a member of the public reported the missing boy shortly before 6:15pm.
The Irish Coast Guard Rescue 116 helicopter from Dublin arrived within 25 minutes, followed by the Drogheda Coast Guard Unit.
The boy’s body was recovered by the Coast Guard after 9:30pm and the boy was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan for a post-mortem examination. Gardaà have requested that the public refrain from sharing videos or images of the incident online.
Tributes have been paid to the boy, with many saying he was a lovely chap, friendly and a good athlete.
