Tributes paid to elderly man who died in Co Louth road crash

An elderly man has died following a road collision in Co Louth.

The man, who was in his 80s, passed away after the crash in Ardee on Thursday, reports Breaking News.

A Garda spokesperson said that gardaí and emergency services responded to a single-vehicle collision on the N33 at Cappocksgreen just after 3pm.

The driver, a man in his 80s, was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he was later pronounced dead, reports Breaking News.

“The coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course. The results will assist gardaí in their investigations,” the spokesperson said.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses, reports Breaking News.

“Any road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam, and were in the area at the time are asked to share this footage with the investigating gardaí,” they added.
