Tributes have been paid to an Irishman who tragically died yesterday while on holiday in Spain, reports The Mirror.

Kieran Griffin was on holiday with a group of friends in San Sebastian when he died in a drowning accident.

According to Dublin Live, the 41-year-old from Knocklion, Dublin, has been a member of the Ballyboden St Enda’s GAA club since childhood.

The GAA club wrote a touching tribute to him on Saturday, saying Kieran and his family were “well known in GAA circles in Dublin, Kerry and Cavan”.

Ballyboden St Enda wrote on their website: “It is with great sadness that we inform you that Ballyboden St. Enda’s member Kieran Griffin tragically lost his life in Spain last Friday 15th September,” reports The Mirror.

“Kieran has been a member of Ballyboden St. Enda’s since his childhood playing both hurling and football from a young age. He played Minor level during 2000 and was part of the “Eddie Eagles” Junior team that won the Treble in 2004,” it added, reports The Mirror.
