According to local authorities, Spanish rescue crews in Tenerife have discovered a corpse close to the location where British youngster Jay Slater vanished about a month ago, reports RTE.

According to the police, there is substantial evidence to imply that the remains are those of the adolescent.

The missing people organisation LBT Global reported on behalf of Mr. Slater’s family that the corpse was believed to have been discovered near the last known location of his cell phone, together with his belongings and clothing.

The 19-year-old may have passed away from an unintentional fall in the steep, hard-to-reach terrain, according to a statement from the Guardia Civil police, reports RTE.

It further stated that a post-mortem examination would be conducted to ascertain whether his death was an accident.

On June 17, Jay Slater vanished from sight.

The Masca ravine, located in a secluded national park on the island, is where his phone was last seen.

The boy claimed that his phone’s battery was low when he phoned buddies, reports RTE.
