It is believed that a security officer was hurt near the location of a planned facility for asylum seekers on Dublin’s Malahide Road.

The public order unit is closing in on demonstrators while the uniformed Garda have begun to retreat, reports Breaking News.

Social media footage reveals that the fire started in one spot and quickly spread to other places, destroying a JCB excavator that was being used to break up the camp.

There are presently detours in place due to the closure of Malahide Road.

Dublin Fire Brigade said “Three fire engines from Kilbarrack, North Strand and Finglas fire stations along with a turntable ladder are on scene,” reports Breaking News.
