A man in his 50s has died after a mountain biking accident in north Wexford.
An Garda Síochána and emergency responders were called after the man suffered serious injuries while mountain biking in a forested area in Askamore shortly after 1pm on Sunday, reports Breaking News.
The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later, according to a statement from gardaí.
The Coroner has been informed and the man’s body has been taken to the mortuary at Wexford General Hospital, where a post-mortem examination is due to take place, reports Breaking News.
A file will now be prepared for the Coroner.
Local Fine Gael TD Brian Brennan said his “thoughts and prayers” are with the family of the deceased, reports Breaking News.
Deputy Brennan added that the fatal incident was “devastating news”, reports Breaking News.
