Tributes paid to man (50s) who sadly died in crash in Co Mayo

A man in his 50s lost his life following a single-vehicle crash in Co Mayo on Monday night, reports The Mirror.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:10 p.m. on the R323 Knock Road, Bracklaghboy, Ballyhaunis.

Gardaí and emergency services responded swiftly, but despite their efforts, the man—who was the sole occupant of the car—was pronounced dead at the scene, reports The Mirror.

His body was taken to the mortuary at Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The road remains closed to allow Garda Forensic Investigators to conduct a technical examination, with local diversions in place, reports The Mirror.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and are asking anyone with information or dash-cam footage from the area between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. to come forward.

Anyone with information can contact Ballina Garda Station at (096) 20560, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station, reports The Mirror.
