Tributes paid to man (60s) died from drowning incident in Donegal




A sixty-year-old man lost his life yesterday night when fishing at Machaire Maoláin in west Donegal due to technical difficulties, reports RTE.

Just before 8 o’clock at night, local emergency services and GardaĂ­ reacted to the unfortunate tragedy.

Garda Siobhán Ní Chathmhaoil stated this morning on Barrscéalta, RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, that the man fell into the water while fishing from rocks at Machaire Maoláin, reports RTE.

“Members of the Coast Guard removed the man from the water and he was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital.” She also said that he was declared dead later.

Police This was described as a “tragic incident” by NĂ­ Chathmhaoil. She pleaded with everyone to remember the relatives of the dead and to follow the advise on water safety, reports RTE.
