
A man in his 60s has died after encountering trouble while swimming off the coast of Co Waterford, reports Breaking News.
The incident occurred at Boatstrand shortly after 9am on Thursday.
Emergency services were alerted following reports that a swimmer was in difficulty in the water, reports Breaking News.
A coordinated response was launched, involving the Irish Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 117, the Tramore RNLI lifeboat, and several shore-based units.
The man’s body was recovered by 11am and brought back to land.
A post-mortem examination is expected to take place in the coming days at University Hospital Waterford (UHW), reports Breaking News.
