
A single-vehicle traffic collision in County Meath has resulted in the death of a man in his 20s. This raises the total number of fatalities on state highways for the weekend to five.
A 50-yr-old motorcyclist also lost his life in an accident in County Down yesterday, reports RTE.
The Co Meath incident occurred last night at 10 p.m. on the R161 between Trim and Navan.
The individual was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where the Gardaà stated he was declared deceased.
There are local detours in place when the route is blocked for a technical inspection, reports RTE.
It occurs after a three-vehicle crash in Oldcastle, County Meath, yesterday resulted in the deaths of two individuals.
At around 4:40 p.m., a motorcycle-related collision happened on the R195 route near Bellaney.
A man in his 30s who was riding a motorbike and a man in his 40s who was riding on the pillion were both declared deceased at the site.
The remains were sent to Our Lady’s Hospital mortuary in Navan, where postmortem exams will be scheduled, reports RTE.
Locals have dubbed them Stuart O’Connell and Mark Eager.

“This is a small town and everybody knows everybody,” remarked he, reports RTE.
