A home fire in Belfast on Monday claimed the life of a lady in her 50s. The woman passed away on December 16 after a fire at a house in West Belfast’s New Barnsley Park neighbourhood, according to PSNI confirmation, reports The Mirror.

Firefighters were attempting to put out the fire when emergency personnel were summoned to the scene at around 3:25 p.m. on Monday. Belfast Live says that the woman was tragically declared deceased at the spot.

According to the PSNI, it is investigating the woman’s death and does not currently consider it suspicious.

Detective Sergeant Christine Alexander said: “Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the blaze but, sadly, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are conducting enquiries into this death, on behalf of the Coroner. At this stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious,” reports The Mirror.
