Tributes paid to woman (60s) who sadly died following collision in Co Louth

A woman has died following a two-vehicle collision in Dundalk, Co Louth, on Wednesday, reports Breaking News.

The crash happened on Bellews Bridge Road in Castletown shortly after 1:45pm, reports Breaking News.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a woman in her 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was the only person in her car, reports Breaking News.

Her remains have been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

The driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle, a woman in her 30s, is receiving treatment at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries, reports Breaking News.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are carrying out a technical examination of the scene, and the road remains closed.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward, reports Breaking News.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, and who were in the area between 1:30pm and 2:00pm on Wednesday 15 April 2026 are asked to provide it to investigating gardaí.
