
An elderly woman, believed to be in her 80s, has passed away after a collision involving a truck and an SUV in County Roscommon on Tuesday, reports Breaking News.
The incident happened shortly after 5pm on the N5 at Scramoge. The woman who died had been a passenger in the SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SUV’s driver, a woman in her 70s, sustained serious injuries and was flown by air ambulance to University Hospital Galway for treatment, reports Breaking News.
No additional injuries have been reported.
The stretch of road remains closed and is expected to stay shut until tomorrow to allow Garda forensic collision investigators to conduct an examination. Local traffic diversions have been put in place, reports Breaking News.
Gardaà are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to get in touch with them.
“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 4.45pm and 5.15pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaÃ,” reports Breaking News.
