A collision in Co Clare early Sunday morning claimed the life of a man in his 30s.
When the collision happened, the man was driving at Kilmurry McMahon in Kilrush.
The road remains closed this afternoon while a technical inspection is being carried out by gardaÃ.
There are now local diversions in place.
A post-mortem examination will be scheduled when the local coroner has been informed.
Road users who may have dash cam or other camera video who were in the vicinity between 3 and 7 am are being urged by the Gardaà to provide it to the investigating gardaÃ.
