Tributes have poured in for Irishman Finbar Cafferkey who has been killed in eastern part of Ukraine, reports RTE.
Finbar Cafferkey’s family have confirmed that the Mayo native has died fighting Russian forces in eastern Ukraine in recent days.
Mr Cafferkey is understood to have traveled to the country to support local forces.
He has previously fought with Kurdish militias in Syria in their operations against IS, reports RTE.
Mr Cafferkey was in his forties and originally from Achill.
His family confirmed reports of his death this afternoon.
There is currently no information available about the circumstances of his death, reports RTE.
