A Scottish student who died in a crash in Co Louth last month, which also claimed the lives of four other people, has been remembered as the “most perfect” member of her family, who was “thriving” while living abroad.

Mourners gathered this morning to pay tribute to Chloe Hipson, 21, from Bellshill in North Lanarkshire, who had been studying at Dundalk Institute of Technology, reports RTE.

The five young adults, all in their 20s, were travelling to a night out in Dundalk on 15 November when the Volkswagen Golf they were in collided with another vehicle.

Those who died alongside Ms Hipson were: Chloe McGee, 23, and Shay Duffy, 21, both from Carrickmacross in Co Monaghan; Alan McCluskey, 23, from Drumconrath in Co Meath; and Dylan Commins, 23, from Ardee in Co Louth, reports RTE.

A sixth passenger, a man in his 20s, sustained injuries in the crash.

Two individuals in the other vehicle were also hurt, reports RTE.

A funeral service to commemorate Ms Hipson took place at Daldowie Crematorium near Glasgow.

During the service, Reverend Peter Davidge said that Ms Hipson had embraced life in Ireland and was “flourishing” there, reports RTE.

Recalling her childhood, he mentioned she was involved in football and played with Hamilton Accies as a young girl, wearing “pink boots and sparkly hair bows”.

After completing her education at Bellshill Academy, she entered the workforce and later pursued quantity surveying at South Lanarkshire College in East Kilbride, reports RTE.

Rev Davidge added: “She had a very strong work ethic, which I think was a defining thing about Chloe – she’d try anything”.

She travelled widely and had been in Seville for Rangers’ Europa League final in 2022.

Ms Hipson relocated to Co Monaghan in April this year, bringing her dog, Poppy, with her, reports RTE.

Rev Davidge said she “fell in love” with Ireland and quickly made new friends,

He also said: “She was thriving and she was happy, and she was not scared to try out new things”, reports RTE.

He continued: “I think everyone spoke of Chloe as the most perfect person in the family. She never argued with anyone, she just got on with life”, reports RTE.

Her partner AJ had been preparing to propose on Christmas Eve, having received permission from her father and brother.

Rev Davidge added: “She, as you know, lost her life so absolutely tragically alongside some other wonderful young people – her pals Alan, Chloe, Shay and Dylan.

“We, today here in Scotland, think of all their families. And of those beautiful young people”, reports RTE.

Mourners were shown photographs and video clips celebrating Ms Hipson’s life.

Rev Davidge also read a poem titled Chloe, composed by some of her friends in Ireland, reports RTE.

The song Jealous Of The Angels was played as her coffin was closed.

Offering a prayer, Rev Davidge said: “We think of Chloe – for always perfect, for always 21, for always just a lovely person”, reports RTE.

Ms Hipson is survived by her parents, two brothers, her nephew, and grandparents.
