
Following a single-vehicle collision in Derrylin, County Fermanagh, yesterday night, a 20-year-old lady lost her life, reports RTE.
Just before 11 p.m., Amy Stokes of Ballyconnell, County Cavan, was a passenger in the vehicle that collided on Ballyconnell Road.
According to the PSNI, many additional passengers in the vehicle were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the hospital, reports RTE.
Ms. Stoke’s family said in a statement that they are deeply saddened by her passing and that she would be much missed.
For now, they have requested privacy, reports RTE.
After a lorry driver was murdered on the road earlier, police have asked drivers to exercise additional caution throughout the Christmas season.
Yesterday morning, another single-vehicle collision involving a lorry in Beragh, County Tyrone, claimed the life of a man in his 40s, reports RTE.
Shortly after 7.50am, the truck driver was declared deceased at the site of the collision in the Moylagh Road area.
Investigators looking into the events surrounding both accidents have urged anybody with dashcam footage or knowledge about what transpired to get in touch with them.
So far this year, Northern Ireland’s roads have claimed 65 lives, reports RTE.
