Tributes pour in for boxer Kevin Sheehy who was knocked down and killed in hit-and-run in Limerick

Tributes have poured in on social media for promising Olympic Boxer Kevin Sheehy who was killed in a hit-and-run in the early hours on Monday morning in Limerick city.

Friends of the boxer have said how dedicated he was to the sport and that he aimed to make the 2024 Olympics.

It’s understood that he is expecting his first baby with his girlfriend in six weeks time.

Mr Sheehy won numerous national titles and had competed in a number of international competitions in the UK and Europe.

He died when a jeep struck him as he walked on the footpath on Hyde Road, at 4:40am on Monday morning.

Gardai confirm that the driver of black 4×4 Mitsubishi Shogun jeep kept going and didn’t stop. They have arrested two men in connection to Mr Sheehy’s death.
