
Tributes are continuing to pour in for Kitty Lavin, the woman who tragically lost her life in a road accident in Frenchpark on the evening of Thursday, May 1st, reports Breaking News.
Kitty Lavin (89), of Mullen, Frenchpark, Co Roscommon, was a pedestrian when she was fatally struck by a truck at the junction of the N5 and R361 in the village. The incident occurred at around 4.45pm, near her home.
Originally from Strokestown, Kitty moved to Frenchpark after marrying. A widow, she was well-known in the local community and active in various committees and organisations, reports Breaking News.
Friends and neighbours shared heartfelt tributes. One said: “A lovely lady …always up for a chat, it’s just so sad my heart goes out to all her family.” Another added: “Rest in peace Kitty Condolences to your family. A pleasure to have known you.”
She is survived by her sons Pat and Gerry and her daughter Martina Langan. Kitty will repose at The Sharkey Funeral Home in Frenchpark on Sunday evening (May 4th) from 4pm to 7pm, reports Breaking News.
Her removal will take place from her home on Monday morning to St Asicus’ Church, Frenchpark, for the Mass of the Resurrection at 11am, followed by burial in Cloonshanville Cemetery.
Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses. Road users who may have been in the area between 4.30pm and 5pm and who may have dashcam or phone footage are urged to come forward.
