According to the head of the students’ union at Trinity College Dublin, the demonstration against the Gaza conflict would go on “indefinitely until our demands are met” on the campus, reports RTE.

There are currently 43 tents and about 73 students encamped on the Trinity grounds as part of the protest, which started shortly before 9 p.m. yesterday.

The demonstrators claim to be against the university’s commercial and scholarly ties to Israel, as well as the Gaza War, reports RTE.

Students’ seats that block the Book of Kells’ entrance have made it difficult to access the text.

All ticket purchasers have received their refunds, and Trinity College has verified that the Old Library and entrance to the Book of Kells are closed today owing to the protest.

He told RTÉ’s Saturday with Colm Ó Mongáin: “The reason we are doing this is to put an end to the genocide in Gaza. It is to stand up against the brutal oppression of the Palestinian people that has been ongoing for 75 years by asking Trinity College Dublin to cut ties from Israel to divest from Israel and condemn the genocide,” reports RTE.
