True Generosity: A Cork family who are currently homeless receive offers of accommodation after the mother of two gives an emotional radio interview

A homeless family who were the subject of an emotional radio interview have received a whole of offers from generous listeners to help them out.

The out poor of kindness came after a mother of two Rebecca Dela gave an emotional appeal on Cork radio station 96fm, in which she told host Deirdre O’Shaughnessy of how she and her husband walk the streets each day with their three-year-old son because they have no place to go. Rebecca along with her two sons told tragically a forced to share a bedroom in a women-and-children-only B&B, whilst her husband sleeps rough because there is no hostel currently available for him.

The heartbreaking story became all too much for one listener named Lorraine who contacted 96fm offering the family use of her cottage in Mallow whilst other listeners contacted the station offering their support with offers of transport and items for Christmas. Rebecca spoke of the support she received by listeners since her heartbreaking interview telling host Deirdre: “A lovely lady called Lorraine just got in contact there and offered us a place in a cottage in Mallow.” “Now she said that it’s very basic, but I mean it’s a roof over our heads at the end of the day. So thank you very much.”

Meanwhile the Fragolini School of Dance offered free ballet lessons and a ballet outfit to Rebecca’s six-year-old daughter.
