
According to Edison Research, Donald Trump has won the presidential election in Arizona, securing a resounding win over Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and completing a sweep of all seven battleground states, reports RTE.
It is anticipated that the Republican would end up with 312 votes to Ms. Harris’s 226. By early Wednesday, the Republican had already obtained the 270 Electoral College votes required to win the White House.
The swing states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Nevada were also won by Mr. Trump in addition to Arizona.
Joe Biden won 306 Electoral College votes to Mr. Trump’s 232 in 2020 after he won six of the seven swing states and lost North Carolina by a slim margin, reports RTE.
In addition, the president-elect defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016 with 306 Electoral College votes.
According to the Associated Press, Ms. Harris received 70.9 million votes, or 48% of the total, while Mr. Trump received 74.6 million, or 50.5%, nationally.

On January 20, Mr. Trump and his new vice president, US Senator JD Vance, are scheduled to assume office following the Electoral College vote’s certification by Congress on January 6, reports RTE.
Earlier, Mr. Trump denied re-appointing former UN ambassador Nikki Haley and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, two key individuals from his first administration.
As rumours circulate over the composition of his new team, Mr. Trump stated in a post on his Truth Social network that he “will not be inviting” either person to join his administration, reports RTE.
“I very much appreciated working with them previously and would like to thank them for their service to our country,” Mr Trump wrote, reports RTE.
Mr. Trump has frequently condemned US assistance to Ukraine in its conflict with Russia and claimed that he could put an end to the war in Ukraine during his first day in office.
Before supporting Mr. Trump, Ms. Haley challenged him in this year’s Republican primary. However, she occasionally gave direct counsel, telling the Republican presidential candidate to “quit whining” about Democratic rival Kamala Harris in August.
As his White House chief of staff, the Republican has appointed one cabinet member thus far: Susie Wiles, his campaign manager, whom he refers to as a “ice baby” because of her allegedly calm demeanour, reports RTE.
Ms. Wiles is the first female to be appointed to the important position of gatekeeper at the White House.
