Tubridy left fuming as listerner figures sky rockets AFTER he left

According to the latest Joint National Listenership Research, RTE Radio 1 gained an additional 13,000 listeners after the departure of Ryan Tubridy from the station, reports The Mirror.

Tubridy was terminated from RTE following the fallout from the RTE payments scandal earlier this summer.

The show’s daily morning slot had to be filled by Oliver Callan, Brendan Courtney and Maura Derrane for the last few months, after which the show was rebranded as the Nine O’Clock Show, reports The Mirror.

Even though a permanent host has not been announced yet, the latest JNLR report reveals that an extra 13,000 listeners have tuned into the morning show since Tubridy’s departure.

The total number of daily listeners is 347,000.

Kevin Bakhurst, RTÉ Director-General, admitted that “it has been an “extraordinarily challenging period for RTE”, reports The Mirror.

He said: “Without a doubt this has been an extraordinarily challenging period for RTÉ. It is with gratitude then that I thank the listeners to RTÉ’s radio services for sticking with RTÉ, and with pleasure welcome the 16,000 additional listeners to Radio 1, the 49,000 additional listeners to 2fm, and the 7,000 additional listeners to RTÉ lyric fm (YoY),” reports The Mirror.
