Upwards of 1,400 fatalities have been confirmed after a major earthquake hit Turkey and Syria overnight.
The quake, measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale, struck in the early hours of the morning, local time, causing devastating and widespread structural damage.
Rescue efforts are ongoing, and the death toll is expected to rise significantly.
