Upwards of 45,000 fatalities have been confirmed after a major earthquake hit Turkey and Syria almost two weeks ago.
The quake, measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale, struck in the early hours of the morning, causing devastating and widespread structural damage. Many areas have experienced no fewer than 285 aftershocks since.
113 people have been detained on suspicion of bypassing building standards, which may have contributed to the catastrophe.
Rescue efforts are ongoing, and the death toll is expected to rise significantly.
