Turkish authorities have detained a Syrian man who was planning to carry out a terror attack against the annual Anzac Day dawn service in Gallipoli.
The Islamic State supporter, Abdulkarem Hilef (25), was alleged planning to carry out either a bomb or vehicle attack against the service The Australian.com reports.
Turkish anti-terror police arrested the man in Tekirdag just two hours drive from the site of the service on Anzac coast where thousands of Australian, New Zealander and Irish troops died in disastrous Dardanelles campaign of 1915.
It is suspected that the planned attack, that was foiled just hours before the ceremony took place, was supposed to be in revenge for the Christchurch Mosque massacres.
