TUSLA, The Child and Family Agency is recruiting carers from different family, cultural, religious, social and linguistic backgrounds, to reflect the diversity of unaccompanied minors coming into State care reports RTE.

According to FosteringFirst.ie, allowances for foster care in Ireland are tax free and foster carers get €352.00 per week per child (€18,000 approx). However, some foster children have “more challenging needs and requirements than others, so enhanced payments can be requested from Tusla for certain types of placements”.

Within the international refugee framework, Ireland agreed with Greece to accept 36 unaccompanied minors who sought asylum in Greece.Eight arrived in June last year, another 13 were brought to Ireland last month and a further 15 will be arriving this month.
Other un-accompanied children outside of the refugee programme also present at Irish borders seeking asylum.
