Tusla’s investigation into the Kyran Durnin case should be finished this week, according to Green Party leader and Minister for Children Roderic O’Gorman, reports RTE.
Minister O’Gorman stated on RTÉ’s This Week that he was unsure if Kyran’s extended absence from school resulted in a referral to the Child and Family Agency.
He did, however, anticipate that this material would be included in the Tusla assessment.
The National Review Panel will also get the report, he noted, reports RTE.
Last Monday, the search at the missing schoolboy’s former family home and a nearby open space in Dundalk, County Louth, came to an end.
According to the GardaÃ, the search’s findings would not be made public for operational reasons.
They think the six-year-old kid may have been murdered as recently as two years ago, reports RTE.
According to Minister O’Gorman, he was “entirely open” to a broader perspective on child protection and the interaction between State and Tusla services and vulnerable children.
According to him, it’s critical to make sure that all branches of the government that interact with children who are at risk are completely cooperating.
“I think that’s maybe where we do have some gaps in the system,” reports RTE.
