Tutor thought to have been arrested in North Korea for teaching “capitalist” disco-style dancing to teenagers

A tutor who taught dancing in North Korea has allegedly been arrested because she taught dancing that was described as “capitalist” disco-style moves to teenagers.

According to the Metro, the tutor, who is in her 30s, is said to have been arrested by an organisation called the Anti-Socialism Inspection Group in Pyongsong City.

The Elimination of Reactionary Though and Culture Act was passed in 2020 and is used to stop North Koreans for doing various things, including using or sharing media from capitalist countries, including the US and South Korea.  At its worst, offenders can be given the death sentence.

The teacher in question was said to have been giving lessons to the teenagers to help her pay her bills for around $10 an hour and it is now expected that they will be punished, with the possibility that the parents of the students could also be punished.
