The back door of the vehicle was forced open and badly damaged in the process. Two bags containing life-saving equipment were taken.
Volunteers from St John’s Ambulance realized the callous theft when they arrived in the Ballsgrove area to collect the vehicle for a charity Santa run.
A spokesperson for the organisation said the ambulance in question will remain off the road until the supplies are replaced.
