Lufthansa and Air France have announced plans to stop their aircraft flying over the Sinai peninsula, following the crash of the Metrojet plane.
Statements released by the airlines say that the reason for the jet’s downing must be made clear before flights over the area are resumed.
224 people died when the Metrojet’s Airbus A-321 came down in a desolate area of Egypt’s Sinai peninsula.
There have unsubstantiated claims about the intervention of extremist militants from the IS organisation in the incident.
