Two female gardai are now in self-isolation following an incident at a checkpoint in Co. Kilkenny over the weekend.
It is understood that the officers were manning a checkpoint near the village of Callan in the county when they were assaulted by a man, who bit one of the gardai and struck the other.
The man was arrested at the scene and appeared in court today.
