There are some positive news this evening, as two new facilities to house homeless people have opened in Dublin today.
The Peter McVerry Trust (PMVT) has made available a 70-bed unit on Ellis Quay, while Depaul Ireland will operate a 75-bed hostel on Little Britain Street.
It is understood that another facility, run by the Dublin Simon and the Salvation Army, will also open soon.
These new shelters are part of the homelessness initiative enacted by Dublin City Council and the Dublin Region Homeless Executive.
