The grim trend of road-related casualties continues unabated, after two people sustained serious injuries in a crash in Co. Clare this evening.
The incident happened on the N67 Kilrush to Killimer road, near the Moneypoint power station, at around 4pm.
Two cars collided in an almost head-on angle, and a female became trapped inside her vehicle for almost an hour as a result of the crash. The driver of the other car walked from the wreckage with less serious injuries. Both people were taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.
The injured female is expected to survive.
