Two Irishmen have been charged in connection with the shooting of a 53-year-old man in Melbourne, Australia.

According to reports in Australia, both Mark Dixon, 30, and Jack Harvey, 26, have been charged with attempted murder after they appeared before Byron Bay Local Court, earlier today.

Both men have been refused bail and they will be extradited to Melbourne, where they will appear before a court tomorrow.

It is understood that both men were the subject of a police manhunt after a 53-year-old estate agent was shot outside a house in Melbourne last week.

The man who was a former police detective currently remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries after he sustained a gunshot wound to the face.
