Two men dubbed heroes this morning after rescuing a man from the River Shannon

Two men have been dubbed heroes this morning after they managed to save a man who was in distress in the River Shannon last night.

The men, who are originally from Poland made the brave rescue after they spotted the man struggling in the water whilst walking along O’Callaghan Strand near St Michael’s Rowing Club.

Reports say one of the men raised the alarm to emergency services whilst the other with the help of crew members from St Michaels managed to drag the stricken man to shore by throwing a casualty life buoy to him.

Thankfully the man believed to be in his 30s suffered no serious injuries during the incident and is currently recovering at University Hospital Limerick.
