Both the Prison Service and Gardaí have confirmed that two men have been taken to hospital following a stabbing incident at Mountjoy prison.

According to a number of media reports the altercation allegedly involved Thomas Fox another inmate.
Fox who is awaiting trial for the murder of Gareth Hutch last year, was allegedly stabbed after a row took place with another prisoner in the A division of the prison.
Meanwhile another prisoner, who came to Thomas’s aid, was also injured in the attack.
Gardaí say both prisoners are being treated in hospital but it is believed their injuries are not life threatening.
