Two people are confirmed dead, and at least 17 others are injured, after a man went on a stabbing rampage in Japan earlier today.
The incident happened in the town of Kawasaki, outside Tokyo during the morning rush hour.
It is understood that a man walked up to a bus stop in the locality and began stabbing people at random. A 12-year-old girl is among the fatalities, and a number of other children also sustained serious stab wounds.
The attack then reportedly killed himself.
Violent crime is almost unheard of in Japan so events of this type are particularly notorious.
