Two teenage boys are expected to appear before court this morning after they were arrested and charged in connection with an aggravated burglary in Co Kerry last weekend.

Gardaí say the two boys aged 16 and 17 were arrested by Gardai in Listowel, on Wednesday, as part of a follow up investigation.

It is understood that the two teens armed with hammers broke into a house in the Dromin area of Listowel, at approximately 12.30am on Sunday morning.

During the burglary, the two youths allegedly assaulted two male occupants aged in their 20s and 30s respectively before causing criminal damage to the property and a vehicle outside.

Although the men required hospital treatment, it is understood that their injuries are not life-threatening.

Gardaí investigating the incident say the teenagers were arrested on Wednesday afternoon and are currently being held at Listowel Garda Station.

The pair are expected to appear before Listowel District Court, later today.
