A freak incident at a shop in County Antrim has left two women in hospital needing treatment for their injuries.

Two women are believed to have been injured outside a shop in a north county when a large sign collapsed, reports The Mirror.

The crash, believed to have seen wake fall on two victims, occurred at around 5pm on Wednesday in the Fairhill Lane area of Ballymena.

An investigation has been launched and it appears that the PSNI is looking into all the circumstances surrounding the accident with the help of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council and the Northern Ireland Health and Safety Executive.

A PSNI spokesperson confirmed: “Police are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive Northern Ireland and Environmental Health at Mid and East Antrim Borough Council to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collapse of signage in the Fairhill Lane area of Ballymena just after 5.05 pm today, Wednesday 5th April,” reports The Mirror.

“Officers, along with colleagues from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, responded to a report that a large sign had fallen at business premises,” the spokesperson added, reports The Mirror.
