Two men were found guilty by a jury in the Central Criminal Court of raping and sexually abusing a young lady in a hotel parking lot seven years prior, reports Breaking News.
The first defendant, 25, entered a not guilty plea to two charges of sexual assault, oral rape, and rape. In case of oral rape and rape, the second defendant, 24, entered a not guilty plea.
The State said that after going on a trip with the men in a vehicle, the then-17-year-old girl was raped by them both in turn in a hotel parking lot. At the time, the defendants were 17 and 18 years old, and they denied any misconduct.
The event happened in December 2017 in a Leinster hotel parking lot, reports Breaking News.
It was the case’s second trial as the jury in the first trial, which took place in 2023 over six weeks, was unable to reach a judgement.
After deliberating for seven and a half hours on Wednesday, the jury returned verdicts.
The 24-year-old guy was found guilty of oral rape, but the 25-year-old man was found guilty of all the accusations brought against him. Regarding the 24-year-old man’s accusation of rape, the jury stated that it was unable to render a decision.
As the results were announced, both men started crying uncontrollably, reports Breaking News.
