U.S. company advises people to check their Ventolin inhaler after faults are discovered in some inhalers

Asthma patients are being advised to check their Ventolin inhaler (blue inhaler) as a precautionary measure, after the company who makes them in the U.S. say some aerosols have experienced some faults.

The company GlaxoSmithKline have decided to voluntary recall of Ventolin HFA (albuterol sulfate) Inhalation Aerosol, 90 mcg per actuation, 200 Metered Inhalations. It is believed that some of the canisters may not contain sufficient propellant to deliver the labeled claim of 200 actuations through the end of shelf life.

The company say the problem only affects two lots of Ventolin HFA, in the US, but are advising users worldwide to check their inhaler as a precautionary measure. However the company who makes the inhaler here Allen and Handburys have said that people should not worry as there has been no faults been reported as of yet.
