Reported first by the Irish Times, the university ranks high up on the list among international universities.
The list comes from Indonesia’s GreenMetric Rankings of World Universities in 215.
This is a global category and includes 400 different universities, ranking them on areas such as eco-friendly transport, education, waste management and environmentally friendly infrastructure.
Other Irish universities were ranked high on the list:
University of Limerick 16th,
Dublin City University (DCU) 58th
University College Dublin (UCD) 111th.
Mark Poland, director of buildings and estates stated “UCC is on its way to achieving targets of a 33 per cent energy reduction by 2020.”
