UEFA bans Manchester City from participating in the Champions League for two seasons over ‘financial irregularities’

UEFA has banned Manchester City from participating in the Champions League competition for two seasons over ‘financial irregularities’.

According to a statement released by the football body, Manchester City has been found guilty of ‘serious breaches of the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations’ by ‘overstating its sponsorship revenue in its accounts between 2012 and 2016.’

The club has also been fined almost £25m, a decision which is being appealed by the team’s management.
