The UK government has begun to release some prisoners from jail the country’s Ministry of Justice has announced as the Covid-19 virus hits British prisons.
The first prisoners to be released are pregnant women who do not pose a high risk to the public and they are only to be temporarily released from custody.
To prevent the spread of the Coronavirus prison governors are to be provided with the powers to grant release on temporary licence for individuals once a risk assessment is passed.
