A grandmother in the UK has been fined for leaving two small bags of clothers on the ground beside a donation bank that was overflowing.

According to the Irish Mirror, 68-year-old Pauline Yarranton received the fine two weeks after she left two bags full of jumpers and t-shirts beside the bank as she couldn’t open the door.   At the time she couldn’t bring the bags to a charity shop as they were closed due to lockdown.

After receiving the fine, Ms. Yarranton attended a meeting at her district council offices where she was given a choice between three options.  She could either pay the fine, go to court, or get a caution.

“I took the caution,” she said.  “It was very worrying.  I still couldn’t believe it had gone this far.”

She was told that the offence had been reported by the shop next door to the clothes bank.  It is reported that there is now a sticker on the clothes bank, asking people not to leave anything there if the bank was full.
