UK National Parks told they must attract more minority visitors or they will no longer deserve their name

The UK’s 15 designated landscapes will soon no longer deserve their special designation if they cannot attract more black, Asian and other minority groups to visit them the chief executive of the Lake District, Richard Leafe, has said.

Leafe’s comments come after a government report regarding the future of Britain’s protected landscapes in which the national parks faced criticism for making people feel insufficiently welcome the UK Telegraph reported.

According to the Telegraph, Mr Leafe said:
“We are deficient in terms of young people; we are deficient in terms of black and minority ethnic communities and we are not particularly well-visited by those who are less able in terms of their mobility.”
