Ukraine counter-offensive: Desperate Russian officers forced by leadership to order suicidal frontal charges, troops suffer massive casualties

Desperate Russian officers were reportedly forced -again- by leadership to order suicidal frontal charges, resulting in subordinate troops suffering massive casualties.

The Russian army routinely uses human wave ‘tactics’, where hundreds of young men are sent forward to die in well-prepared Ukrainian kill zones. When the first wave falls, the second one scrambles over the bodies, and so on, in the hope that multiple waves will eventually overwhelm the enemy. The problem for the Russians is that they run out of bodies far earlier than Ukrainian gunners run out of lead to hand out.

The latest such massacre happened in the town of Staromaiorske, where Ukrainian units attached to the 35th Marine Brigade were well dug in in elevated positions overlooking the lowlands below. This vantage point enabled Ukrainian operators to monitor the approaches to Staromaiorske and maintain the pressure southwards, towards Urozhaine, making the supply situation in the area difficult for the Russians.

There have been at least two attempts to dislodge the Ukrainians from this sector, both soundly repelled. Leveraging a combination of well-aimed machine gun fire and combined drone and mortar strikes, Ukrainian troops inflicted grievous losses on the attackers.
