1,800 refugees fleeing Ukraine have already arrived in Ireland to stay with friends and family, it has been reported today.
The Government recently said that a much larger contingent of refugees is expected to arrive in Ireland over the coming days, and that people should open their houses to them.
It is unclear however whether Government Ministers, the President, etc. will lead with example and house a few families in their homes, and use official buildings as shelters. Until people in Ireland see that display of leadership, they might be reluctant to play good samaritan.
